So beautiful.. the song make the ambience feel so peaceful and nice. The big tank with sharks is full of terror, yet beautiful! Cool place:)

Siam Ocean World
Pros: It is clean and very modern. SOW clearly works hard to make the exhibits world class, and given that the whole thing is in the basement of a mall, they've hit a home run. The educational signage is quite good. The focus is on Southeast Asia, but SOW does have some exhibits that include other regions of the world. SOW is not the Monterey Bay Aquarium, or Baltimore, or Atlanta, but it is very respectable for its size. We spent four hours there with an under 10, had fun, and learned a few things. The rain forest exhibit was excellent. Best of all, SOW seems to have an active outreach program for school children. SOW, less than a mile from the incredibly polluted Jao Phrya, is instilling not only love and appreciation of marine life, but also a very clear message that we need to care for our marine environment. Considering the megalopolis that is Krungthep, SOW is likely the only opportunity that tens of thousands of children will get to see and learn about the oceans, and how to care for them. Hat's off to SOW! Get the hotels 2 thailand package that includes all the extras. Note that the "behind the scenes" tour is about five minutes long, and only mildly interesting, (seen filtration systems before?), so it's best to get it as part of the package (don't buy separately). The glass bottom boat tour is, well, rather oversold in marketing hyperbole. The glass is a small strip in the bottom of an aluminum skiff, and you really can't see much. That said, if you live here, and you've never been to something like Monterey Bay Aquarium, then everything at SOW is amazing. BTW, something I'd never seen anywhere was the "happy feet" add-on wherein you sit on the edge of what's clearly a re-purposed hot tub, with your feet in water, while small fresh-water fish tickle your feet and legs as they look for food on your skin. It's pointless and absolutely hokey, but it's also a big hoot.
